"We are pleased and proud to associate the Misano circuit with Marco Simoncelli, a champion in sport and in life." Said Lucas Colaiacovo, the circuit's vice president.
The board of directors of the Misano World Circuit announced that the name of the track will be changed to Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in honor of the fallen Italian MotoGP Hero. Misano was the home track of Marco, who grew up and lived in the nearby town of Coriano.
The change was unanimously agreed upon by the board.
